The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) was unable to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) as mandated by its constitution due to the failure to meet the required quorum.

Per Article 34 of the GJA constitution, at least 10% of members in good standing must be present for the meeting to proceed. However, this threshold was not met, leading to the cancellation of the AGM.
Addressing members at the abandoned meeting on Wednesday, April 2, GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour expressed disappointment over the low turnout and urged members to prioritize the AGM.
“This is our association, and we must handle its affairs with urgency and seriousness. We have made ourselves available to account for our stewardship, engage our members, and ensure transparency in our duties. We appreciate the confidence you have placed in us and do not take it for granted,” he stated.
He further acknowledged the constitutional requirement for a quorum and assured members that efforts would be made to convene an emergency meeting before the end of his tenure.
“We will make a conscious effort to hold the AGM before our tenure ends,” he assured.
