Former Auditor-General and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, Daniel Domelevo, has denied allegations that the committee engaged in witch-hunting, asserting that any such case would fail in court.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, February 11, Domelevo clarified that while the issues raised in the ORAL report are not conclusive, individuals who feel wrongly accused can seek redress in court. He emphasized, “If you think that we’ve damaged your reputation, you can go to court.”
Meanwhile, Private Legal Practitioner and former Berekum MP, Captain (Rtd.) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, has questioned the legal validity of the ORAL report. In an interview with Channel One News on Monday, February 10, he argued that the report cannot serve as a basis for prosecution but rather should serve as a guide to summon individuals to explain themselves.
Domelevo responded to these concerns, noting that the ORAL committee’s role was not to conduct investigations, but to compile the report based on evidence it received. He added that the committee has no authority to probe into the numerous cases filed by individuals.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, the ORAL team presented its findings to President John Dramani Mahama in Accra. The President subsequently directed Dr. Ayine to launch immediate investigations into the cases detailed in the report.
The ORAL Committee has so far received 2,417 complaints from individuals and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
“We received 1,493 calls through the toll-free line. We also received 924 emails. Fortunately, all the calls are recorded automatically, and the emails have also been preserved for verification and validation.
“In total, the number of complaints received amounts to 2,417 complaints.”
