Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, stated that the true state of Ghana’s economy is visible in the markets.

“We all visit the market, and we see how costly and burdensome the prices of items, especially food, have become,” she said.

She urged voters to choose the NDC if they want to see improvements, suggesting that electing the party will lead to better management of the country and a reduction in the cost of living.

During her tour of the Central Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang addressed market leaders, traders, commercial drivers, and commuters at the Mankessim market in the Mfantseman constituency. She stated that it is evident the government has failed the nation.

“Ghanaians don’t need to be told how much the government has failed due to poor management. The problems are visible in the markets and shops,” she said.

She also discussed the need for development in the Mankessim area, emphasizing that redesigning and building modern markets will be a key focus for the next NDC government, highlighting the party’s commitment to supporting markets and traders.

She highlighted the infrastructure developments the NDC had previously completed in Mankessim, including market improvements, and questioned what the current government has accomplished for the area.

“Haven’t we done this before?” she asked, urging the people to support the NDC to return to power and continue the projects that have been neglected by the current government.

She also informed the traders about the proposed establishment of a Women’s Development Bank, which would offer credit to help expand their businesses, stating, “We have great plans for you traders.”
