Security expert Dr. Adam Bonaa has stated that certain individuals are exacerbating the conflict in Bawku for their own benefit. He claims that state security is aware of the actions of these warlords but has yet to take any action against them.

“There are warlords fueling the conflict in Bawku, and the state knows who they are,” Dr. Bonaa remarked during the Big Issue on TV3 on Tuesday, October 29.
In light of recent events, the Ministry of the Interior has urged Bawku residents to adhere to directives and collaborate fully with security agencies to restore peace and stability in the area.
A curfew has been imposed on Bawku following violent incidents over the weekend, following an emergency national security meeting on Monday, October 28. The curfew is in effect from 6 PM to 6 AM, starting from October 28.
A statement from the Interior Ministry indicated that the disturbances were linked to the return of Mr. Seidu Abagre, who was controversially enskinned as Bawku Naba in February 2023 after the Court of Appeal revoked his arrest warrant.
These disturbances have led to numerous fatalities and pose a threat of escalating violence beyond Bawku.
The government has stated that assessments by national security agencies indicate that Mr. Abagre’s presence in Bawku presents a significant danger to public safety.
Therefore, under the Public Order Act of 1994, the curfew has been implemented from 6 PM to 6 AM until further notice.
The government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of Bawku and its surrounding areas. Security agencies have been instructed to strictly enforce the curfew and maintain law and order.
Residents are urged to comply with this directive and work closely with security agencies to restore peace. Any individual found violating the curfew will face legal repercussions.
