Yesterday, on World Refugee Day in Accra, the Deputy Minister for the Interior, Naana Eyiah, promised that Ghana will continue to help refugees.
She stated that Ghana is working to make sure refugees can go to school, get medical care, and find work.

This matches the theme of this year’s event, “Standing with Refugees”. She also mentioned that Ghana is providing free education, identity cards, and residence permits to help refugees settle in and live in Ghana legally.
The Deputy Minister, Naana Eyiah, is worried that there’s less help available for refugees, even though many people in the Upper East and Upper West Regions still need assistance.
Naana asked businesses and organizations to help more, explaining that everyone benefits when refugees are included in society.
Naana praised refugees for their bravery and strength, and thanked them for the positive contributions they’ve made to Ghana.
She also thanked the UN Refugee Agency for their support and encouraged continued kindness and support for refugees.
The head of the UN Refugee Agency in Ghana, Mr. Andrew Ginsberg, said that refugees need opportunities to integrate into the communities that welcome them.
Mr Andrew encouraged refugees to contribute to their host communities. He also praised Ghana for being a strong supporter of refugees in need.
The event ended with a call for everyone to work together to ensure that refugees can live safely and with dignity in Ghana.
