Since December 2021, the Ministry of Education has released GHS154, 802, 836.00 to Senior Secondary Schools in the country.
GHS94,394,436.00 was given to the National Buffer Stock Company for the purchase of essential food stock that will be supplied to SHS’s.
A statement signed by the Press Secretary in Accra, Mr Felix Baidoo, states that Gh60,498,400.00 were paid to the Heads for SHS’s as SHS intervention grants. 1, 2, and 3, respectively.

It said that these releases are useful to strategically ensure schools have the right resources to ensure smooth operations to allow for effective teaching and learning. To enhance their operations, it is worth mentioning that on July 9, 2021 the Education Ministry released a sum of GHS88,055,148.80 to NAFCO and Headmasters for SHS in the country.
The Ministry assures parents and other stakeholders that the Free Senior High School initiative (FSHS), is not in trouble.
It is also announcing that the government will continue to provide the necessary resources to ensure it continues to be a success, regardless of where they live or their political affiliation. The statement concluded that: “again, the Ministry is assuring all Headmasters that it would continue to provide them with the needed resources to help them to operate effectively towards teaching and learning in schools for the good of all”, the statement concluded.
