During the recent Graphic Showbiz Forum, themed “Future of Ghana Movie Industry, bright or Bleak?” Multichoice Managing Director, Mr Okyere, emphasized the significance of government backing for the growth of the country’s film sector. He suggested that the government could extend support through tax incentives, grants, and the facilitation of a conducive environment to attract more investments in the industry.
Another aspect highlighted by Mr Okyere was the potential for educational institutions to develop specialized courses in film production, acting, distribution, promotion, and general film studies. These courses could provide valuable upskilling opportunities for existing professionals in the sector.

However, Mr Okyere acknowledged that the realization of the Ghanaian movie industry’s full potential would require a collaborative effort from all stakeholders involved.
The focus of this year’s Graphic Showbiz Forum was to explore ways in which Ghana could stay relevant in the face of evolving content demands and address the challenges to unlock its full potential.
The panel of experts included Peter Sedufia, the CEO of OldFilm Productions and a renowned film producer/director, Prince David Osei, an accomplished actor, George Bosompim, Ivan Quashigah, an experienced film producer, and Afua Kissi-Nyame, the Head of Marketing at Multichoice Ghana.
