Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adams has assured that the government has maintained fiscal discipline ahead of the December 7 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, December 3, Dr. Adams emphasized that the government has kept spending in check and avoided running budget deficits.

He highlighted that despite ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects, the government has managed to stay within its financial limits in 2024.
“In an election year, we have maintained uncharacteristic fiscal discipline, and with all the massive infrastructure around the country, as demonstrated by the many [projects] His Excellency the President has commissioned recently, we have continued to stay the course. We have continued to invest in our people.”
The Finance Minister also reassured Ghanaians affected by investment losses from the debt restructuring program, which resulted from the COVID-19-induced economic downturn, that their losses will be recovered by the end of 2026.
This assurance is based on expectations of an economic rebound and improvements in the country’s macroeconomic indicators.
At a monthly press briefing, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adams emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing long-term policies designed to sustain the recovery.
He expressed confidence that these measures will restore economic stability and create favorable conditions for the recovery of investments.
