The 2022 cohort of rotation nurses has not received their allowances a year after completing their National Service.

Perpetual Ofori Ampofo, President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), has termed the situation as “painful.” She is urging the Ministry of Finance to issue immediate clearance for the payment of these allowances.
“It is worth noting that the rotation nurses add to the work we do in the clinical area, in the sense that they add on to the staffing. They bring a lot of expertise on board in terms of what they have been trained for, it is not the best to go through a whole year of internship of rotation or National Service without being paid their due. They should be paid as soon as possible,” she demanded during an interview with 3news on July 30.
“I think I am waiting for a government that will be able to turn this around and let it be in the past. When you qualify, the longest you will have to wait was one month and you are posted to go and do your work with everything fresh on your mind, fresh on your fingertips. So we need to get back there that is the only way we can forestall all the difficulties and challenges that come with the waiting of a professional for a number of years before they will get the job to work,” she lamented.
Meanwhile, the affected rotation nurses and midwives have given the government, through the Ministry of Health, a two-week ultimatum to resolve their grievances.
