The Concerned NDC Disability Desk has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to fulfill his campaign promise of including Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in prominent positions within his administration.
Before his election, President Mahama committed to championing inclusivity, particularly for women and PWDs, in his government.

In an interview with Citi News, the group expressed concerns about the exclusion of PWDs from 42 of the 60 ministerial appointments announced so far. They urged the President to address these concerns promptly in his upcoming appointments.
“If you take the ministerial appointment that President Mahama intends to make, he said he is going to make 60 appointments. He has made 42. It is more than 50 percent and the cabinet has already been formed. If you take the political hierarchy in Ghana here, the cabinet is the highest.
“And if you take the highest one, all the members of the cabinet have been appointed. If you critically look at the Affirmative Action Law, it is supposed to protect women and then the disabled. If you take the cabinet, women are there, but if you look at the disabled, 0.00 percent have been appointed, and this is something that we need to talk about.”
