A group named Election Watch Ghana has gathered at the Electoral Commission’s headquarters to demand the release of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) to political parties.

The protest follows the EC’s delay in publishing the provisional voter register as mandated by the Constitutional Instrument for the 2024 elections, despite previous assurances from the Commission.

This delay has led to frustration among the opposition NDC and other stakeholders involved in the elections.

Mark Ewusi, Convenor of Election Watch Ghana, expressed concern during a media interview at the EC Headquarters, stating that the delay is undermining the transparency and integrity of the electoral process.

“We all know that per the calendar of the Electoral Commission, tomorrow is said to be the day for the exhibition and it is very prudent for political parties to get hold of the provisional register so that we can scrutinise it for the exercise tomorrow.

“Unfortunately for us, we got here and the commissioners themselves and the workers had not resumed work,” he stated.
