The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Klottey Korley Assembly and the Osu Traditional Council, has commissioned the first phase of the Accra Leisure and Recreational Park, also known as Geese Park.

This newly developed park boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a snack shop, a restaurant, an event center, a children’s playground, a zoo, and a skating park. It is envisioned to become a central hub for relaxation and recreation within the Osu enclave.

Additionally, the Geese Park will be connected to the Asomdwoe Park in Osu, creating an integrated network of tourist attractions in the area.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by notable officials from the tourism sector, including the former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer; CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman; Seth Adjei Baah; Koku Anyidoho; as well as board members and staff of the GTA.

In his address, the former Tourism Minister described the commissioning of the park as a remarkable milestone for Ghana’s tourism sector. He praised the GTA for its instrumental role in enhancing tourism over the past eight years under the leadership of Akwasi Agyeman.

The development of the Accra Leisure and Recreational Park is part of broader efforts to improve urban recreational spaces, promote domestic tourism, and enrich the cultural and social fabric of the Osu community.

Mr. Akwasi Agyeman also indicated that GTA envisioned tourism in Ghana as a way of exhibiting the country’s rich culture and its ability to tell Ghana’s history.

He added that GTA collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism along with other bodies to undertake redevelopment projects including the Kwame Nkrumah Museum, The Nationalism Park, and the Geese Park.
