TV3 investigated the claim of Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, but the GWR denied the achievement.

In a direct message, the GWR confirmed that Alan Fisher from Ireland still holds the record, set in October 2023, with a time of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds.

The GWR clarified that Chef Smith does not hold any title or certificate from them, contradicting his claim.

Chef Smith had announced his supposed achievement in a press conference, presenting a certificate, and stating, “I am deeply humbled and honored to announce that I am now the new world record holder for the cook-a-thon.”

However, the GWR has dismissed this claim, stating that the current record remains unbroken.

The GWR’s response to TV3 read, “We can confirm this is not true. Chef Smith does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate.”

This development raises questions about the validity of Chef Smith’s claim and the certificate he presented.

Chef Smith’s team has not responded to requests for comment on the GWR’s denial.

The incident highlights the importance of verifying records and achievements through reputable organizations like the GWR.
