Erling Haaland netted a hat-trick as Manchester City delivered a commanding 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium, giving the newly promoted side a harsh introduction to Premier League football.
Ipswich, returning to the top flight after 22 years, had a brief moment of celebration when Sammie Szmodics scored on his full debut, slipping a shot past Ederson in the 7th minute.

However, Manchester City quickly turned the game around, scoring three goals within just four minutes.
Haaland equalized with a penalty after a VAR review overturned the referee’s initial decision that Savinho had dived. Kevin de Bruyne then capitalized on a mistake by Ipswich goalkeeper Arijanet Muric to put City ahead, and Haaland further extended the lead by rounding Muric to score his second goal.
City’s dominance continued as they hit the woodwork twice and had a penalty appeal against Ipswich’s Leif Davis denied.
The second half saw Ilkay Gundogan, who had rejoined City from Barcelona, warmly welcomed back by the fans.

Haaland completed his hat-trick with a late goal, securing the win for Manchester City, who maintain a perfect start to the season. Ipswich, having also lost their Premier League opener to Liverpool, are still in search of their first points.
