Hamas has confirmed the death of its leader, Yahya Sinwar, during combat with Israeli forces in Gaza on Wednesday, October 16.
As reported by Aljazeera, Sinwar was killed while “defending Palestine until the last moments of his life.” His death marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel.

Amid the escalating violence, senior Hamas official Khalil Hayya declared that Israeli captives held in Gaza would not be released unless Israel halts its military operations and withdraws from the territory.
Gaza has been under heavy bombardment following a series of attacks initiated by Hamas.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that this does not mark the end of the war in Gaza. He reaffirmed Israel’s determination to continue its military campaign against Hamas, signaling that the conflict will persist.
Sinwar’s death heightens the already intense tensions in the region, with no clear signs of de-escalation from either side.
