Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has credited the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its landslide victory in the 2024 elections, attributing it to their hard work and effective strategic messaging.

Mahama won 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55%, while the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, secured 4,657,304 votes (41.61%). Additionally, the NDC claimed a majority in Parliament with 180 seats confirmed so far.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face on Tuesday, Mogtari emphasized the importance of their approach, which included an extensive listening tour.
She noted that engaging with various segments of society—such as professional associations, student groups, market women, and the general public was key to building the widespread support the party received.
According to Mogtari, the listening tour allowed the NDC to address the concerns of different societal groups, ensuring that the campaign resonated with the people’s needs and aspirations.
Responding to how they won the election, she told host Umaru Sanda Amadu, “Hard work, hard work, very strategic and intentional about our messaging. The listening tour actually set us up for the final campaign and you remember that we made sure that it didn’t have a lot of political undertones.
“We visited every corner, professional associations, students’ associations, market women, the generality of the Ghanaian populace.”
