Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has declared Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as the key to solving Ghana’s growing unemployment challenge, describing it as “the future, the answer, and the solution.”

Speaking to journalists in Koforidua during a working tour on Monday, June 30, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding investment in TVET and practical skills training.

According to him, such efforts are essential to prepare Ghanaian youth for the demands of the modern workforce and help curb the country’s unemployment rate.

“The government is on course in its quest to channel more investment into TVET and hands-on training to equip the youth for the competitive world of work,” he stated.

Mr. Iddrisu’s remarks were made during a visit to monitor the commencement of the Nationwide Examination for Technical and Vocational Education, in which approximately 55,000 students are participating across the country.

While commending the initiative, the Minister also expressed concern over what he described as a troubling new trend: students using mobile phones to cheat during examinations. He called on all stakeholders, including parents, invigilators, and the students themselves, to help end the practice.

“TVET is the future. We must invest more in technical and vocational education and hands-on training to properly prepare our young people for the future of work, he said
