Head teacher squanders registration fees for students basic education certificate examination

Students of Buduatta DA JHS in Gomoa East district of the central region has been thrown into tears as they are unable to participate in the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination

It was reported that over 6000 students  across Ghana were expected to sit for the Examination which will run from Monday7th August 2023 to Friday 11August.

In a video being circulated, parents and guardians were seen consoling their wards while lamenting how the children has put in much effort to prepare for the Examination and all is in vain while accusing the head teacher of squandering their registration fees.

The head teacher was alleged to have collected GHC400 to register candidates for the BECE amongst other cost.

A parents claims that her daughter’s index was not showing at the centre hence was unable to participate in the Examination

According to a statement, Some individuals has taken it upon themselves to reach out to the head teacher for his comments but to no avail.

YEN.com.GH reported that money issues from the government derailed the WASSCE and BECE,

Meanwhile the government eventually released GHC55 million to  the West Africa Examination Council for the preparation of BECE and WASSCE.

The West African  Examination has stated that approximately 300,323 males and 30091 females registered for the Examination. This figure is said to be an accumulation of students from both private and public high schools.
