Hearts of Oak fans had reason to celebrate as their team achieved a vital 2-0 victory over Bechem United on Sunday night in their Ghana Premier League match at the Legon Stadium.

After starting the 2024/25 season with two consecutive losses, the Phobians were under significant pressure to improve their performance.
With the Accra Sports Stadium temporarily closed by the National Sports Authority, Hearts of Oak faced additional challenges by hosting their home game at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The breakthrough came shortly after halftime when new signing Ransford Mensah scored with a superb free-kick from the edge of the box in the 53rd minute. His powerful strike left Bechem’s goalkeeper with no chance, lifting the spirits of the home side as they celebrated their first goal of the season.
Hearts of Oak dominated the second half, creating numerous scoring chances. Their efforts were rewarded in the 75th minute when Hamza Issah, last season’s top scorer, extended the lead with a well-placed finish. This goal capped off a commanding performance and secured all three points for the Phobians.
The victory provided much-needed relief for Hearts of Oak manager Aboubakar Ouattara, who had been under pressure following the team’s slow start.
Looking ahead, Hearts will aim to build on this momentum as they prepare to face Nations FC in their next fixture in the Ashanti Region.
Meanwhile, Bechem United remains winless after three games and has yet to score this season, compounding their struggles. They will need a significant turnaround as they prepare for their next match.
This victory lifts Hearts of Oak out of the relegation zone, and the Phobians will be eager to maintain their resurgence in the coming weeks.
