The Electoral Commission’s (EC) Regional Office at Ridge in Accra is under heavy security as the Commission resumes re-collating results for nine unresolved constituencies.

This exercise, aimed at ensuring accuracy and transparency in the final tally, comes amidst rising political tensions and public scrutiny. Notably, the process is being carried out without the presence of NDC representatives.

On December 20, the High Court directed the EC to re-collate and announce the results for constituencies such as Ablekuma North, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and other contested areas, overturning previous declarations. However, the NDC has filed for a stay of the Court’s ruling.

The affected constituencies are located across key regions and have been the subject of disputes over alleged irregularities in the collation process during the general elections.

The affected constituencies include Nsawam Adoagyiri, Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Dome Kwabenya.

Security Measures

Armed police and military personnel have cordoned off the area to maintain order and ensure the safety of election officials, party representatives, and observers. Security checkpoints have been set up at entry points, and access to the collation centre is strictly limited to authorized personnel.

The heightened security measures reflect the sensitive nature of the exercise, as supporters of major political parties have been seen gathering nearby, awaiting updates.

The Electoral Commission, at a press conference on Thursday, December 20, ahead of the re-collation, assured the public of its commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
