The High Court in Accra, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, has adjourned the bail application of Yahuza Osumanu, the man charged with robbing former Second Lady Matilda Yaaba Amissah-Arthur and four others, to May 13, 2024.
The defense team, led by Paul Asibi Abariga, requested more time to review the prosecution’s affidavit in opposition to their bail application, which was filed just minutes before the court session on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Yahuza Osumanu, a self-proclaimed businessman, faces 26 counts, including 20 counts of robbery and six counts of money laundering, and has pleaded not guilty.

He has been remanded in prison custody since April 16, 2024. The prosecution, led by state attorney Amanda Awadey, is expected to file witness statements by May 21, 2024.
According to Murtala Inusah, EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, the defense team needs more time to review the prosecution’s affidavit and prepare their arguments for bail.
The court has directed the prosecution to file the necessary disclosures and serve the defense team with the relevant documents ahead of time.
Yahuza Osumanu is accused of robbing the former Second Lady, Matilda Yaaba Amissah-Arthur, and four others, including businessman David Adjaye, of various currencies and valuable properties at gunpoint.
The court has adjourned the bail application to May 13, 2024, to allow the defense team sufficient time to prepare their arguments.
