The Accra High Court has dismissed an application filed by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, seeking a mistrial and an investigation into the conduct of the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, in the ongoing ambulance case.
The trial judge ruled that Forson’s legal team had not provided sufficient grounds to justify a mistrial or an inquiry into the Attorney General’s actions.

This decision was made despite Forson’s lawyers filing a supplementary affidavit seeking a mistrial, injunction, or stay of proceedings.
The affidavit cited a leaked recording between the Attorney General and the third accused, Richard Jakpa, which allegedly revealed the Attorney General attempting to manipulate Jakpa into implicating Forson in the trial.
Forson’s legal team argued that this constituted misconduct by the Attorney General and warranted a mistrial.
Forson also claimed to have listened to a widely circulated recording of the Attorney General and Jakpa discussing evidence to be presented in the trial.
His counsel intended to seek permission to play the recording in open court.
Forson argued that failing to declare a mistrial in this circumstance could significantly undermine public confidence in the judicial process.
The court’s decision comes as a significant development in the ongoing ambulance case, which has been plagued by allegations of corruption and misconduct.
The case continues to be closely watched by the public and political analysts alike.
