Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has managed expectations for the upcoming season by focusing on avoiding relegation rather than pursuing a trophy.

At a press conference, Ouattara highlighted that, having narrowly avoided relegation last season, the team’s immediate objective is to achieve stability and gradual progress.
“I can’t guarantee a trophy next season, but I am committed to building a team that can compete and stay clear of relegation,” he said.
The Phobians secured their top-flight status with a vital 3-2 victory over Bechem United on the final day of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season. They had also battled against relegation the previous season, needing to avoid defeat against Berekum Chelsea to secure their survival.
Ouattara acknowledged the supporters’ desire for success but urged patience as the club concentrates on building a solid foundation.
“My target is to ensure we don’t battle relegation next season. The supporters always want us to win, and any big team is expected to compete for trophies. But for now, our main focus is to build a solid team and avoid the relegation zone,” he added.
The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to start on September 6, with the full fixture list yet to be released.
