Ghana coach Otto Addo has acknowledged that his team could have performed better against Angola, even though the condition of the Baba Yara Stadium was less than ideal.

The Black Stars faced the Palancas Negras on Thursday, hoping to kick off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on a positive note, but fell short.
A late injury-time goal from Felicio Joao Milson proved decisive, ending Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten run at the Baba Yara Stadium.
“I don’t want to blame the pitch for this loss, even though it wasn’t in great condition. We also played poorly against the Central African Republic but still won. We need to improve,” said Otto Addo.
Despite the setback, Addo highlighted some positives from the game and expressed confidence in his team’s chances for the remaining fixtures.
“The second half makes me very confident about our qualification hopes. The good thing is that it’s all in our hands because we still have to play against all the teams in the group.”
The Black Stars will now focus on their next match against Niger on Monday in Morocco, aiming to recover from the disappointing performance in Kumasi.
