Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to introduce the credit scoring system outlined in the party’s manifesto before the December 7 elections.

The 2024 manifesto promises a system enabling Ghanaians to acquire goods and services on credit without immediate cash.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the presence of a credit system is a key factor distinguishing Ghana from more developed nations, where such systems contribute to a higher standard of living.

He noted that Ghana is now equipped to implement this system, thanks to advances such as the national identification system, digital addressing system, mobile money wallets, and interoperability between bank accounts and mobile money.

During his campaign in the Awutu Senya East constituency, Dr. Bawumia affirmed that the NPP government will roll out the credit scoring system prior to the elections, underscoring the party’s dedication to expanding economic opportunities for Ghanaians.
