The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, attributes his 24 years of service as an MP to his humility and welcoming nature.

He explained that he has always been open to everyone in his constituency, regardless of their political affiliation.
Mr. Agyapong shared this advice with Charles Bissue, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Essikado-Ketan, during the launch of Bissue’s campaign on Saturday, offering guidance on how he could win the upcoming December elections and retain the seat.
“Do you know why I’ve been an MP for 24 years? Even when I announced I wouldn’t run again, people pleaded with me to reconsider, but I’m tired. Why? Because in my home, it doesn’t matter if you’re from Assin, NDC, or NPP—I welcome everyone with open arms.
“When people visit my home, I sit on the floor and eat with them because I’m just a local boy,” he remarked.
Mr. Agyapong also cautioned NPP supporters in Essikado-Ketan not to underestimate the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Dr. Grace Danquah.
He emphasized that the only way for Bissue to maintain the seat for the NPP after 20 years of dominance is for everyone to work diligently to win over voters.
“I plead with you, let’s not treat this as a funfair but go to the various houses and spread the good word. Do not underestimate the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC who is contesting. Do not underestimate her.
“She has contested a sitting MP twice. The last time, the sitting MP had 26,000 votes, and she had 24,000.”
