Legendary Highlife musician KK Fosu has apologized for his outburst during an interview on Monday, July 22, in which he explained his absence from the funeral of John Claude, a victim of an accident he was involved in.

In the interview with Accra-based Hitz FM, KK Fosu had bluntly stated, “I don’t know Claude,” and suggested that attending the funeral was not mandatory, as he was also recovering from injuries sustained in the accident.
John Claude passed away on Saturday, May 25, in an accident on the Accra-Apam Highway involving KK Fosu, K Bless, and others who were on their way to a wedding.
John Claude Tamakloe was laid to rest in Tema Community 2 on July 19, 2024.
During the interview, the legendary musician also addressed critics who had condemned him for his absence from John Claude’s funeral. John Claude was a blogger who passed away due to the accident on May 25.
However, a few hours after the interview, KK Fosu released a statement admitting that he had let his emotions influence his comments on the issue.
He apologized to the family for any distress his comments may have caused. KK Fosu explained that his outburst was due to the critics not considering his health condition as he was still recovering from his injuries.
“Unfortunately, my emotions got the better of me, leading to an outburst that I deeply regret. This outburst was fueled by my feeling that people were not truly concerned about my state of health.
“I understand that my reaction was inappropriate and I am sincerely sorry for any hurt or distress it caused. I am committed to reaching out personally to the family of the deceased to offer my condolences and support,” excerpts of his statement said.
He further noted that his team was prepared to attend John Claude’s funeral until they learned that the family was “unhappy with me because they believed their son was traveling with me at the time of the accident.”
KK Fosu emphasized that he had only met John Claude for the first time when they were both in the car together.
However, he expressed his intention to personally reach out to the family to offer his condolences and support.
In addition, KK Fosu urged the Ghana Police to expedite their investigation into the tragic incident while extending his condolences to the bereaved family.
