The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has committed to addressing the concerns of fishermen regarding access to premix fuel if they are elected in the 2024 elections.

To tackle this issue, the party plans to introduce solar-powered outboard motors for the fishing community.

During a campaign event in Jomoro on Sunday, the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stated that this initiative would help alleviate the persistent fuel shortages that have troubled fishermen for many years.

“We will use solar power to support fishermen. Their biggest problem is access to premix fuel for their outboard motors. We want to use solar power to run the outboard motors.

“All fishermen will be registered and will be supported with solar-powered outboard motors for which they will pay in instalments. With this, there will be no need for premix fuel. We will run a pilot programme from next month,” he stated.
