Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stated that he will not politicize state institutions such as the judiciary and Electoral Commission if he is elected president again.

He emphasized that he intends to curb the politicization of these institutions through significant constitutional reforms.

“I will curtail the excessive politicisation of our institutions—the Judiciary, the electoral commission, and other independent constitutional bodies—through major constitutional reforms,” he wrote on his X platform.

Mr Mahama further promised to provide a lean government.

“We will also rein in the phenomenon of bloated government and replace it with a much leaner one.

“Attendant governance costs, like payment of utility bills, fuel, and ex-gratia payments, will be cancelled,” he said.
