The Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, has called for the proper disposal of electronic waste (E-Waste) in the country.

He expressed concerns over the harmful effects of the indiscriminate burning of electrical products, noting that it not only damages the environment but also poses a threat to human health.
Speaking to journalists after touring the Agbogbloshie Scrap Dealers, Murtala assured that measures will be implemented to establish proper methods for disposing of electronic waste.
“We provided the collection center so that people wouldn’t be burning those, you know, used electrical items in the open. Because one, it is for your health, for your safety, your own life…I will tell you that we will give you something to take it so that you don’t burn.”
“We are helping to protect you from being exposed to those dangerous, you know, toxic substances. And also preventing you from subjecting other people to it. Because once you burn, people will be affected.”
