Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana and the NPP flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, has declared his intention to immediately begin work upon receiving the mandate of the Ghanaian people to serve as president.
In contrast to his primary opponent, John Mahama, who plans to take a period of rest if elected, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of energetic campaigning and extensive grassroots engagement during his address to party supporters and Easter celebrants in Kwahu.

He urged everyone present to consistently promote and advocate for the policies and accomplishments of the NPP in their interactions.
“Unlike Mahama, he wants a honeymoon. After being elected,he won’t come back again so he won’t mind you. As for me,I’ll come back in 2028. So, l would have to ensure I do my best for you all. So,everyone must campaign very well.
“Today, we are going door to door, house to house campaign to bring victory. It is possible we are going to break the eight,” he stated during his “It is possible Mega Easter walk and Mini Rally” at Kwahu on Saturday, March 30,2024.
During the same event, the Vice President announced new measures that his government would implement to tackle illegal mining if elected.
One of the key measures highlighted was the decision not to set ablaze excavators and other machinery confiscated from illegal miners.
