The Ghana Police Service has urged political parties and independent candidates to manage their expectations for the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of a peaceful and stable environment during the contest, which is a win-or-lose scenario.

This message was conveyed during a police briefing with representatives from all political parties, where preparations for the 2024 general elections were discussed.

Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, reassured attendees that his team would address any electoral violence with professionalism and take appropriate actions to either escalate or de-escalate situations as necessary.

“There is one clear thing, only one will win, the rest will not win. In the same way, the 801 vying for the position of 276 seats, only and I repeat only 276 will win, the rest will not win. We need to come to this realisation and therefore measure our expectations.

“If I want to be very blunt, I will say that as you plan to celebrate your possible victory, plan to celebrate your defeat or endure your defeat. So at the end of the day, Ghana and only Ghanaians will win in this election as we have said”, he stated.
