Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has promised to ban rice imports if elected in December, aiming to enhance local agriculture and strengthen Ghana’s economy.

As the founder and leader of the LPG, Akpaloo has expressed a strong commitment to decreasing Ghana’s reliance on imports by focusing on empowering local industries and generating jobs for Ghanaians.
In an interview on Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV, Akpaloo declared, “When I become President, we will impose a ban on the importation of rice.”
He further explained his intention to prioritize domestic rice production as a crucial step toward achieving economic self-sufficiency.
Additionally, Akpaloo shared his broader economic vision, which includes the creation of one million new entrepreneurs throughout Ghana. He believes this initiative will significantly address unemployment and lay the groundwork for sustainable economic growth.
“We will support entrepreneurs; we aim to create at least one million new entrepreneurs by 2028,” he stated.
