Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has announced his decision to withdraw from politics, firmly distancing himself from any future political affiliations.
Gyan’s brief foray into politics began in February 2024, when he attended the campaign launch of NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He later took on the role of chairman for Bawumia’s Youth and Sports Manifesto sub-committee and participated in a campaign walk alongside the vice president in Akropong, Eastern Region.
However, in a statement released recently, the 38-year-old football legend admitted that his foray into partisan politics was not in the best interest of Ghanaian youth. Acknowledging this, Gyan vowed to step away from politics altogether.

Looking ahead, Gyan expressed a renewed commitment to youth empowerment, pledging to focus on creating opportunities for young Ghanaians, especially in sports.
He reaffirmed his intent to use his foundation and other available resources to support the nation’s youth, ensuring their growth and success outside the realm of politics.
