Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the convener of the Democracy Hub protest, has refuted allegations that he is in hiding and has been declared wanted by the police.

Barker-Vormawor called the allegations “baseless and misleading.”

On Sunday, September 22, police reported the arrest of 42 protesters from the Democracy Hub group and stated that they were on a manhunt for Barker-Vormawor, a key leader of the demonstration.

In a Facebook post on Monday, September 23, he dismissed the police’s claims, asserting that he has been in “consistent communication with senior officers regarding my whereabouts and availability.”

He added, “In light of these developments, I have instructed my lawyers to urgently engage with the Ghana Police Service to clarify which specific police station or office they wish me to report to.

My legal team is prepared to cooperate and will reach out to the relevant authorities to determine the appropriate steps to take.”

“I remain committed to the rule of law and to addressing any issues raised by the Police in accordance with due process. I expect that this engagement will provide clarity and prevent any further attempts to distort the truth,” he wrote.
