Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a key figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made it clear that he has no plans to accept any political office.

During an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Channel One TV, Mr. Otchere-Darko emphasized that despite being a well-known advocate for the NPP, he has never held a political position within the party.

He clarified that while he is deeply engaged in political discourse and advocacy, he does not see himself as a politician.

As a private legal practitioner, Mr. Otchere-Darko stated that his focus has always been on supporting political activism and expressing his views on political issues, rather than seeking an official political role.

He defined a politician as someone who holds a political office, a role he has never taken on.

Additionally, he pointed out that his major contribution to politics has been through establishing the Danquah Institute (DI), an organization dedicated to political thought and discussion, which, however, does not equate to holding political office.

“First of all, I’m not a politician. I have never been a politician. I have no interest in political office, I think a politician is someone who takes a political office, it’s not necessarily someone who takes a political stance. You have political views, and you may even do some political activism. But I’m not a politician.

“I have never run for office, I have never accepted political office or held an office in the NPP. The closest I have done is to be the founder of Danquah Institute, an ideological think tank, it doesn’t make me a politician.

“I’m a journalist, I have been a journalist, I’m a lawyer, I’m in the media space, the statesman Newspaper, Asaase Radio and all that, but I’m not a politician. At best a political strategist.”
