Hassan Ayariga, founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), has expressed strong confidence in his potential to become Ghana’s next president if his party secures 30-35% of the votes in the 2024 general elections.

In an interview on Eyewitness News with Nana Tuffour Boateng on Friday, September 6, Ayariga stated that should his party advance to a runoff, it would be challenging for either the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win without the APC’s backing.
He highlighted that the entrenched rivalry between the NPP and NDC would prevent them from supporting each other in a runoff, thereby giving a third party like the APC a strategic advantage.
“If I have 30-35%, we are going to a second round with either the NDC or the NPP, I am definitely going to be the next president,” he stated.
He continued: “There will never be a day in this country where NPP is in the second round and NDC will go and endorse them. Likewise, the vice versa. So, any party who gets to be in the second round with either of them, that party is going to be the president, it is automatic.
“I am with the NDC and it goes into the second round, NPP will not go and endorse NDC, they won’t do that. They will come and endorse me. If I am with NPP going into the second round, NDC will never endorse NPP.
“They will make sure that I win. So, all we need to go is to penetrate and get a portion that will make us either first or second in the race and then we will become the government of the day,” he stated.
