Improving roads infrastructure; NPP MP calls for more public-private partnerships

There is an urgent need to increase public-private partnerships in order to bridge the roads infrastructure deficit in the country, according to the Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira, Hon. Festus Awuah Kwofie.

In a statement read on the floor of Parliament, the MP stressed the need for more collaboration between the government and private entities in order to boost the road infrastructure in the country. Whiles, highlighting the importance of an improved road network, the MP concedes that government cannot shoulder the burden by itself.

Citing improved figures on road rehabilitation and maintenance, the MP noted that ”it is evident that the financial burden on gov’t to fund these roads, the road infrastructural gap from annual budget allocation, has been inadequate and unreliable”.

”If we so desire to improve the road networks at an accelerated rate, then PPP is the surest way to go.
