Inaki Williams has expressed his full support for his brother Nico’s decision to reject Barcelona’s offer during the summer transfer window, opting instead to remain with Athletic Bilbao.

Despite strong links to the Catalan club, the younger Williams, who was instrumental in Spain’s European Championship victory with two goals and an assist, decided to continue his career at Bilbao, where he was entrusted with the iconic number 10 jersey.
Reflecting on Nico’s choice, Inaki shared on Spain’s La Revuelta show: “It was a long and difficult summer for Nico. He had to make some tough decisions. After considering everything, I believe he made the right one.”
Recently, both brothers achieved a shared dream by playing together in European competition for the first time, when Athletic Bilbao faced AS Roma in the Europa League. Inaki added, “We’ve fulfilled a dream, just like the whole team.
Very few have had the fortune to play in Europe with Athletic Club, and now we’re going to achieve something many have hoped for.”
Looking ahead, Inaki and Nico’s next goal with Bilbao is securing a spot in the Champions League, as they sit just two points behind the top four in La Liga.
