Inaki Williams was the standout performer as Athletic Club continued their unbeaten Europa League campaign with a 2-0 win over Fenerbahçe in Istanbul.
The Ghanaian forward netted both goals, demonstrating his clinical finishing ability.
Williams opened the scoring in the 12th minute after capitalizing on a defensive error by Fenerbahçe’s Samet Akaydin, whose poor back pass allowed Gorka Guruzeta to intercept and assist Williams for an easy tap-in.
He doubled his tally just before halftime with a powerful shot from a tight angle that beat goalkeeper Dominik Livaković.
Fenerbahçe pushed for a recovery in the second half, but their efforts were thwarted further when Mert Müldür was sent off for a second yellow card after fouling Williams.
Despite Fenerbahçe’s attempts, Williams’ brace proved decisive, helping Athletic Club extend their unbeaten streak to 12 matches across all competitions.
The victory strengthens Athletic’s position to qualify directly for the Europa League’s last 16, with Williams’ impressive form, having scored eight goals in all competitions this season, continuing to be crucial for the team.
