About two-third of patients in the Accra Psychiatric Hospital who are fully recovered are still stuck at the hospital because their families and relatives have refused to reconnect with back.

The health personnel says these 222 patients in admission want to reconnect with their families, but unfortunately, have been left  to their fate. The hospital authorities say they are yet to get the relatives to take back their fully recovered members.

The authorities further stated that it is draining the hospital facilities and also hindering new admissions. In an interview with GBC news, the Chief Executive of the Mental Health Authority, Professor Kwasi Osei urged that it would be better if the families and relatives come for them in order to decongest the facility for new patients.
