The Appointments Committee of Parliament will vet Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Minister-Designate for the Interior, today, January 24.
A seasoned politician and long-serving Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti Region since 2005, Muntaka has over two decades of experience in Ghanaian politics.

He previously served as Minister for Youth and Sports under the late President John Evans Atta Mills, where he championed youth empowerment and sports development initiatives.
Known for his active role in parliamentary proceedings and his commitment to national development, Muntaka’s nomination highlights confidence in his capability to oversee one of the nation’s most vital ministries.
If his nomination is approved, Muntaka will assume the responsibility of overseeing Ghana’s Ministry of the Interior, a role that directly impacts national security, public safety, and law enforcement.
The Ministry is tasked with coordinating the activities of key agencies, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Narcotics Control Commission.
As Interior Minister, Muntaka will be expected to ensure that these agencies operate efficiently to maintain law and order, address emerging security threats, and uphold the rule of law.
Additionally, he will play a key role in shaping policies that align with Ghana’s broader objectives of stability, peace, and sustainable development.
