Former Black Stars midfielder Derek Boateng has expressed his frustration over the ongoing stadium crisis in Ghana, as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) scramble to find a venue for the Black Stars’ next home match.

The situation escalated after CAF withdrew its conditional approval of the Baba Yara Stadium, leaving Ghana without a suitable pitch for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan in October.

This decision followed Ghana’s defeat to Angola at the stadium, which faced widespread criticism for its poor playing conditions.

Reflecting on the issue, Boateng conveyed his disappointment regarding the lack of adequate infrastructure, emphasizing that it is unacceptable for a footballing nation like Ghana to face such challenges.

“It’s so sad that we are in this kind of situation right now. We shouldn’t be dealing with this. Ghana now has to find a field to play a home game—oh come on. We are better than this, so it’s really disheartening to hear something like that,” Boateng lamented.

Reports indicate that Cote d’Ivoire has emerged as the most likely venue, as logistical issues may prevent Togo from hosting the match.
