Ivory Coast’s defence minister says a senior jihadist who led an attack against the military earlier this month has been captured.
Hamed Bakayoko said a large number of other militants had also been arrested in connection with the assault on the border post in which at least 10 soldiers were killed.
Dozens of armed Islamists launched the raid on Kafolo, on the border with Burkina Faso.
This was the first jihadist attack in Ivory Coast since 2016, when 19 people were killed at a beach resort.
Islamist activity has intensified in the Sahel region in recent months, and there are fears it could spread southwards.
