Janet Nabla, the Founder of the People’s National Party (PNP), has announced her intention to sue the Electoral Commission (EC) at the Supreme Court following her disqualification from participating in the 2024 general elections.

The EC declared her ineligible to contest in the December 7 presidential elections in a statement released on Friday, September 20. Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) was also disqualified, along with other candidates including Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, Nii Amu Darko, Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw from the Progressive People’s Party.

In an interview on 3FM’s mid-day news on September 20, Janet Nabla described the EC as dishonest, stating, “I will place an injunction on the 2024 election,” while alleging that EC Chair Jean Mensa “is jealous of me.”

The EC has approved 13 candidates to contest in the December 7 presidential election, as noted in a press release dated September 20, 2024.

The release explained that a thorough examination of the Nomination Forms submitted by candidates was conducted to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

It concluded by informing the public of the individuals who successfully passed the Nomination process.
