JD Vance and Tim Walz have agreed to a debate on October 1, setting up a highly anticipated face-off between the two vice-presidential candidates.
The debate will be hosted by CBS in New York, offering voters a chance to hear directly from the candidates.

CBS expressed its excitement, stating, “We look forward to providing voters with an opportunity to hear directly from the vice-presidential candidates.”
Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’s running mate, confirmed his participation by posting on X, “See you on October 1, JD.”
JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, responded the following day, not only agreeing to the October debate but also challenging Walz to a separate debate on CNN on September 18.
Vance posted on X, “I look forward to seeing you at both!”
While Walz has yet to comment on the proposed CNN debate, the stage is set for an intense showdown on October 1.
In the presidential race, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have agreed to debate on ABC on September 10.
Harris has expressed her anticipation for the debate, emphasizing her eagerness to confront Trump.
Initially, Trump wanted to debate only on Fox News, but Harris rejected those conditions, pointing out that the Trump campaign had already agreed to the ABC debate when it was expected that Joe Biden would be the Democratic nominee.
Trump later suggested hosting two additional debates on Fox News and NBC, though Harris’s campaign has insisted Trump must first show up to the ABC debate before committing to further engagements.
There are ongoing discussions between NBC News and both campaigns about a possible debate later in the fall.
This debate landscape follows the fallout from Joe Biden’s poor performance against Trump in June, which led to calls for him to withdraw from the race ahead of the November election.
