On Monday, May 6, 2024, Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa announced measures to mitigate the impact of power outages (dumsor) on the Limited Voter Registration exercise.

To ensure uninterrupted registration, the EC has rented generators for all 258 district offices and an additional 785 centers, which will serve as backup power sources during outages. Furthermore, 25 public universities will also serve as registration locations.

In the event of unexpected power interruptions, the EC has planned for an offline mode of voter registration, where details will be stored on pen drives for processing once power is restored.

This contingency plan ensures that registration will not be disrupted. Jean Mensa emphasized that the EC has made arrangements to prevent challenges caused by dumsor, and voters will be registered offline if necessary, with their details stored on pen drives for later processing.
