John Abdulai Jinapor, the Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu, has voiced his concerns regarding the recent behavior of the Supreme Court.

He noted that many Ghanaians perceive the court as increasingly politicized in its decisions and public statements.

“I am concerned about the Supreme Court, particularly the Chief Justice. The belief that she is engaging in political activities is gaining traction,” he remarked on the program Key Points on Saturday, October 26.

Mr. Jinapor was discussing the ongoing deadlock in Parliament, which stems from a Supreme Court ruling that halted a decision made by Speaker Alban Bagbin.

The Speaker had announced on Thursday, October 17, that four parliamentary seats were to be declared vacant.

In light of this situation, the Supreme Court subsequently instructed Parliament on Friday, October 18, to permit the four MPs to continue serving until the matter is resolved.

However, Mr. Jinapor argued that the Supreme Court should not dictate actions to Parliament, stating, “We are the masters of our own rules.”
