Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on party supporters and the general public to join a nationwide demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) scheduled for Tuesday.

At a mini rally held at Amanfro Park in the Ga South Municipality as part of his Greater Accra regional tour, Mahama stressed the importance of pressuring the EC to ensure transparency in the upcoming elections.
He emphasized the NDC’s demand for a forensic audit of the electoral process to uphold its credibility.
“To hold the EC accountable, we need to apply pressure, which is why it is crucial for everyone to participate in Tuesday’s demonstrations nationwide. This is not just for NDC members but for all Ghanaians,” Mahama said.
The NDC has raised concerns about the EC’s readiness for the upcoming elections, pointing to issues with voter registration and a perceived lack of transparency in the commission’s reforms.
Despite repeated calls for a forensic audit, the EC has yet to acquiesce.
Last week, after submitting Mahama’s nomination forms to the EC, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah reiterated the party’s concerns.
“We have serious concerns about the process so far, and I believe we are engaging. The purpose of the engagement is to reach mutual conclusions acceptable to everyone,” Nketiah said.
“We are not willing to give up our rights heading into these elections. We are hopeful that the commission will listen to us and discharge their responsibilities in a way that will satisfy all participating parties.”
