In her speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris pledged to prioritize a middle-class tax cut if elected president.
Harris criticized her opponent, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, for allegedly neglecting the middle class.
“Instead of the Trump tax hike, we will pass a middle-class tax cut that will benefit more than 100 million Americans,” Harris stated, without providing additional specifics.
She argued that Trump’s proposed tariffs would lead to increased prices and highlighted her commitment to building the middle class as a central goal of her presidency.
Harris promised to create an “opportunity economy” where everyone has a fair chance to compete and succeed.
Last week, Harris unveiled plans to reduce taxes for most Americans, curb “price gouging” by grocers, and increase affordable housing.
However, her proposals could face opposition from corporations and Congress, which has previously rejected similar initiatives from Democratic President Joe Biden.
Harris is positioning her economic policies as a stark contrast to those of her opponent, focusing on tariffs and tax reforms.
